DBT Maine is a multidisciplinary group of independent practitioners who use Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other Evidence-Based Practice approaches to treat adults, adolescents, couples and families who want help with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral problems. These might include any of the following:
  • An extreme sensitivity to painful feelings without the ability to tolerate and regulate the emotion. It may seem as though there is no escape. Examples might be sadness, anxiety, shame, or anger and irritability.
  • A tendency toward impulsive and often destructive behaviors such as self-injury or suicide attempts.
  • Engaging in relationships that tend to be stormy and chaotic, often prompting extreme efforts to avoid abandonment.
  • Having a negative or unstable sense of self and chronic feelings of emptiness.
